A retrospective study of 137 patients with a clinical diagnosis of SSHL treated from 10/2010 to 11/2011 at the Department of Otoneurology in ENT national hospital, Hanoi. The mean age is 40 years old. Patients were divided into three groups according to hearing recovery and some factors were analyzed (such age, sex, presence of vertigo at onset, initial degree of hearing loss, therapeutic delay and audiometric configuration, past history of HL). The results included total hearing recovery (27.7 percent), partial hearing recovery (33.1 percent) and absence of recovery (39.2 percent). The young age (15-35), time between onset of hearing loss and treatment (before 7 days) and ascending audiogram were three better prognostic factors of hearing recovery.
