
Through studying interscalen brachial plexus anesthesia in upper limb surgies; in 80 patients divided into two groups: the first group (n=40): brachial plexus anesthesia with admixture of lidocaine 7mg/kg and dexamethasone 4mg and the second group (n=40): brachial plexus anesthesia with admixture of lidocaine 7mg/kg and adrenaline 150J.lg, the authors found: interscalen brachial plexus anesthesia in the first group had better results of anesthesia and postoperative analgesia than in the second group. Onset of the first group (8.30 + or - 1.28 min) was shorter than the second group (13.45 + or - 2.06 min) (p0,05). Duration of anesthesia and postoperative analgesia of the first group (174.87 + or - 11.06 min) was longer than the second group (87.75 + or - 17.13 min) (p0.05). Undesirable effect was only Claude Bernard Homer syndrome 5 percent in the first group and 2.5 percent in the second group (p0.05).
