
A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted frm September 2012 to September 2013 in 5 communes on islands in Khanh Hoa with the measurements of descriptive cross-sectional study subjects of quantitive research were representatives of 873 households and patients in these houses to access factors associated with healthcare services and utilization of residents in commun health centers (CHCs) on islands. Results showed when inhabitant who live in the islands get disease they selected CHCs to use health care service at CHCs that is the highest percentage of 33.6 percent; pharmacies (28.7 percent), private clinics (7.9 percent); district hospitals (5.8 percent) and provincial hospital (4.4 percent). Percentage of healthcare service utilization of household with from/lower 4 members and from/higher 5 members was 36.2 percent and 30.7 percent, respectively. There were 35.6 percent households with near poor economic condition, 32.8 percent households with average economic condition using healthcare services. There were 33.8 percent with patients under 60 years old to use healthcare services in CHCs, and the percentage of those was 32.4 percent with patients over 60 years old. Percentage of male and female patients for using healthcare services was 32.7 percent and 34.3 percent, respectively. There was statistically significant different between patients who worked as fishermen (12.8 percent) and other jobs accounted (36.2 percent). Percentage of patients with health insurance as the primary health care in CHCs was 44.9 percent and 21.6 percent for those who do not registered health insureance in CHCs as the primary healthcare. Percentage of patients with health insurance for using healthcare services in CHCs was higher than 2.95 times those who do not have health insurance. This difference had statistically significiant (p0.0001).
