
Introduction: No.354 Hospital has recently been applying retrograde ureteroscopic lithotripsy with laser in the treatment of ureteral stones from June 2012. By these cases performed, the authors conducted this study to evaluate the efficacy of retrograde ureteroscopy with Holmium:YAG for treating upper ureteral stones. Patients and Methods: included 31 patients with upper ureteral st9nes were diagnosed and treated by retrograde ureteroscopic lithotripsy using laser energy Ho:YAG from June 2012 to May 2013 at No.354 Hospital. Reaserch method is descriptive crosssectional analysis. Results: the age group 30-60 years make up 67.74 percent; The size of stone more than 10mm make up 84.8 percent; the stone-free rate after process was 84.8 percent; the rate of successful lithotripsy was 90.9 percent; The operative time was 60.3 minutes (30-95); the duration of hospital stay from 3 to 7 days. The major complications and disasters included: perforative ureter was 3.2 percent; sepsis was 3.2 percent. Conclusion: retrograde endoscopic lithotripsy by Holmium:YAG laser energy for treating upper ureteral stones is a method on safe, efficient and achieved high stone-free rate.
