Objective: research the indications, treatment methods and surgery results of giant hepatic hemangioma. Methods: retrospective study on 45 giant hepatic hemangioma patients who underwent hepatectomy at hepato-biliary digestif surgery department of Hue central hospital from 1/1998 to 1/2012. Results. During the period of 15 years from 1/1998 to 1/2012, 45 patients with 57 tumors of giant hemangioma of the liver were operated at the gastro-hepatobiliary surgery departement of Hue central hospital. The average size of the tumors is 10.7 cm. Surgical procedure, composed of partial hepatectomy and enucleation is the method of choice. There are not any cases of hepatic insuffisance after the operation. The quantity of blood transfused is 2 units. 4 cases are postoperative bile leakage, mortality rate: 0 percent. The results at the 6 month post operatives are excellent. Conclusion: hemangigoma is a common benign tumor of liver, abdominal ultrasound and CT scanner have an accurate diagnosis. Indication for surgery management is still controversial. Follow us, good indications: tumor size 6 cm, high risk location to prevent a hight mortality in rupture cases. If indicate for surgery, hepatectomy for giant hepatic hemangioma is method with good results and low complications.
