This is a cross-sectional and analytic study aiming at assessing factors related to the condom use compliance among female sex workers (FSWs) during sex-intercourse with clients in Hai Phong city in 2011. Female sex workers in 4 inner districts of Haiphong that include Le Chan, Hong Bang, Ngo Quyen and Hai An districts was recruited in the study through the peer education system. The survey results from interviewing 262 FSWs, with mean age of 27,3 years-old, showed that the proportion of FSWs who use condom regularly with their clients is 81,3 percent while 0,4 percent still incompletely use condom during cliental sex intercourse. Factors that showed significatively associated with non-using of condom during sex-intercourse include the area of work: FSWs working in streets and parks having more risk (OR=2,21) of not using condom than FSWs working in restaurants and hotels; FSWs who have monthly revenue under 5 millions VND having more risk (OR=3,17) than those with revenue higher than millions. Other studied factors such as age, education, marital status, number of clients, having a brothel, being debtor of money have not showed significatively associated. Therefore, intervention programs need to pay attention on FSWs working on street, with low revenue.
