Nghiên cứu đặc điểm lâm sàng, độ nặng và tỷ lệ tử vong qua 50 ca ngộ độc cấp thuốc diệt cỏ Paraquat tại bệnh viện Việt Tiệp Hải Phòng

The amount of paraquat acute poisoning cases is increasing in Hai Phong. Through a research of 50 cases of paraquat acute poisoning at Viet Tiep hospital between Jan 2010 and Jul 2011, the authors found that Thuy Nguyen district has the most patients with paraquat poisoning, and the most common age is from 16 to 25 (56 percent). Gfaxon is the most usual type of Paraquat in Hai Phong. The dosage to be used varies from 4-20 gr in general (with 32 percent of patients); at this dosage, the rate of fatality is 50 percent, which means 25 patients. Overall mortality rate is 58 percent. There are six cases were identified as early pulmonary fibrosis, four cases of pneumomediastinum and/or pneumothorax, 29 cases of acute renal failure on the first day hospitalized. Symptoms are dyspnea, overbreathing, chest dicomfort, decrease of SpO2 signals a highly severe situation. Being more serious and lethal than other kinds ot acute poisoning, deaths is likely to occur at 2nd degree of severity in paraquat acute poisoning.The mortality rate is high in any treatment.
