Nghiên cứu sự thay đổi vị giác trong bệnh viêm tai giữa mủ mạn tính

Objective: To study gustatory changes in chronic suppurative otitis media. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study. 58 patients suffering from chronic suppurative otitis media without cholesteatoma and 188 healthy young subjects received gustatory test for the anterior two third of the tongue with four tastes (sour, sweet, salty and bitter). Results: Detection and discrimination thresholds were higher on the side of the tongue ipsilateral to the affected ear, significantly with sweet and sour. Duration of the disease did not correlated with taste thresholds. Conclusions: Chronic suppurative otitis media was associated with worse taste perception of the ipsilateral anterior two third of the tongue, but this alteration did not show any consequence on the quality of life.
