
Objectives: Determine the rate and risk factors related to overweight - obesity in children aged 6 to 10 years in primary schools, town of Ninh Hoa, Khanh Hoa province. Methods: Phase 1: 1950-level investigation of primary pupils from 6-10 years old in the town of Ninh Hoa, Khanh Hoa province, from 01/10/2010 to 30/11/2010 to determine the percentage of overweight-obese. Phase 2: case-control studies (278 students) to determine cause and effect associated with differential rates. Results: The percentage of overweight obesity was 7.13 percent (95 percent Cl: 5.99 to 8.42 percent), of which 3.74 percent are obese (95 percent Cl: 2.93 to 4.71 percent). The rate of overweight - obese high school boys than girls (8.96 percent versus 5.18 percent, p 0.001). The rate of overweight - obesity is highest in 9 years (9.61 percent), lowest in 7 years (5.37 percent). The degree of overweight mostly mild (76.25 percent), moderate overweight and weight is 23.75 percent. The risk factors involved including children whose fathers and/or overweight mothers; trafficking parents do the job; parents do not recognize children's nutritional status. Children with eating habits and fast food, snack, eating snacks before bed night diet rich in energy, less physical activity (10 hours/week) static activity or = 20 hours/week. Conclusion: Our Results show that the rate contribute to overweight - obesity among primary school children in Khanh Hoa and increasingly necessary interventions for the risk factors for child protection and public health contract.
