A retrospective study on 39 patients having placenta accreta who were surgically managed at the National Hospital of OB and GYN during the two years 2010-2011 showed that placenta accreta had the rate of 0.11 percent generally, and accounted for 5.15 percent of all placenta previa cases. 69.2 percent of all placenta accreta cases had uterine scar due to previous cesarean section. Clinical symptoms of placenta accreta were poor, with bleeding signs accounting for 41 percent and being a common sign among patients with placenta previa. Diagnosis using ultrasound and Doppler sonography detected 48.7 percent cases of placenta accreta. With regard to surgical management, 82.1 percent had to undergo a hysterectomy; the rate of uterus retainment was 17.9 percent. Main complications were heavy bleeding (38.5 percent), and bladder injuries (23.1 percent).
