There are many methods for treatments of uterine fibroids such as tumorectomy, hysterectomy, medical therapy with the drug, hormone, treatment by medicines and recent treatment by uterine artery embolization. Preliminary studies on the treatment results of uterine fibroids by uterine artery embolization in Hai Phong.Five patients with uterines fibroids were diagnosed and treated by selective embolization in the Radiology Department of Viet-Tiep Hospital from March 2011. The authors made the embolization with poly vinyl alcohol particles (PVA) and then we evaluate clinical symptoms, imaging of the tumor on ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging after treatment in 1 month, 3 months. Five women with 11 uterine fibroids including one mass with 7 cm in diameter. 10 tumors are in the muscle layer. All of tumors are rich in vessels, evaluated by Doppler and MRI with injection. Embolization the tumors with PVA 500-700 um was all successful. There isn't a severe complication. Tumor size was reduced after 1 month (25 percent) and after 3 months (33.33 percent) without any case increasing the tumor size.
