Background: To document perioperative and early-postoperative complications of pneumatic ureteroscopic lithotripsy at Department of Urology, No.108 Central Military Hospital. Patients and Methods. A cross-sectional study was performed on 1,775 ureteral-stone patients from August 2007 to January 2012. Rigid ureteroscopes 9.5F and the pneumatic lithotriptor (Lithoclast) were used. Results: success rate 81.6 percent; procedure time 28.6 minutes. Periperative complication rate 18.53 percent; stone migration into kidney 9.57 percent; open conversion rate... Severe complications were ureteral perforation 0.51 percent, ureteral avulsion 0.11 percent. Early postoperative complications were renal colic 6.63 percent, acute pyelonephritis 4.21 percent and urosepsis 0.2 percent. Conclusion: Ureterolithotripsy with rigid scope and pneumatic lithotripter is a safe, effective procedure; but severe complications can be occurred, such as ureteral perforation or avulsion.
