
The study was conducted in July of 2011 in Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province. A total of 532 married women at the age of child bearing 18-49 were gynecologically examinated and the samples of their vaginal discharge were taken to identify parasites. The results showed that: The average age of women who had examination for reproductive tract infections (DSS) was 35.48 + or - 5.79 years old. The women with secondary school education accounted for 56.4 percent, with vocational training and university education occupied only 5.6 percent and particularly there were 19.2 percent of illiterate women. The majority of women were agro forestry working groups, sharing 81.7 percent of the total. Clinically, the percentage of women with reproductive tract infections was 79.0 percent. Overall infection rate (germs, parasites...) by microbiological testing was 85.5 percent, in which Gram (-) infection was 57.3 percent, Gram (+) 28.2 percent, Candida spp 25.3 percent, Trichomonas vaginalis (T. vaginalis) 5.1 percent, Candida spp combined with T. vaginalis 30.5 percent.
