Study was to describe the situation of dental disease of elderly people in Hoang Mai district of Hanoi and to identify the need of treatment. The result showed that, the percentage of female was 51.3 percent and that of male was 48.7 percent. The group aged from 65 to 74 is 57.3 percent higher than the group aged from 75 (42.7 percent). The percentage of people with caries and caries-free was 61.0 percent and 39.0 percent respectively. DMF index was 8,07. In group aged or = 75, the percentage of calculus was 57.1 percent and that in group aged 65-74 was 45.9 percent. CPITN is very high (95.4 percent) including CPITN 3 index was 94.7 percent. The multidisciplinary treatment was 5.3 percent. In conclusion, DMF index was high. The percentage of tooth decay and of hard tissue defect as well as of periodontal disease is high. Dental care condition in community has been bad. So it is necessary to develop dental education program to improve the situation of dental health in community.
