
Objectives: Analyse the MRI features of lumbar discal hernia.Subjects and Methods: retrospectively study of 223 cases having diagnosed of lumbar disc herniation on MRI in Hospital of Post and Telecoms, from Jan 2011 to Mar 2012 in order to analyse the MRI features of lumbar herniation. Result: the average age is 47,57 + or - 12,38. Lumbar disc herniation is usually seen at. single level (43,4 percent) or double level (41,3 percent), majority in L4-L5 (46,3 percent) and L5-S1 (37,8 percent), relation with disc degeneration at the same level. Herniation usually occur posteriorly (98,8 percent), most of herniation are subligamentous (78,2 percent). Moreover, associated lesion can be seen such as vertebral, ligamentous, articular degeneration or spodylolisthesis, lumbar stenosis. Conclusion:The MRI features play an important role in diagnosing and staging of lumbar disc herniation in order to give an suitable treatment.
