
Purpose: To find out the rates of communityaccquired pneumonia, mortality and to estimate medical fees for inpatient services. Objectives and method: Retrospective study of the medical records of patients diagnosed with community-accquired pneumonia and had treatment at NHP in 2011. Results: 4288 medical records were CAP (42 percent). Mortality rate was 1,3 percent. 4222 children (98,5 percent) were treated with antibiotics, 26,5 percent of children were Injected more than 2 antibiotics. Cephalosporine type 3 (78,1) and Aminosed were primarily used. Average length of hospital stay was 7,4 + or - 5,6 days. Smaller children required longer period of hospitalization. Average medical fees: 5,5 million VND per child. Conclusion: Community-accquired pneumonia in children becomes burden to children, families and community.
