Objectives: The frequency of thrombocytopenia was ranged from 24-94 percent in the patients with malaria of the literature and this haematological complication is more unknown in P. vivax, P. falciparum or mixed infection. This study explores the characteristics of thrombocytopenia in malaria inpatient at Binh Phuoc General Hospital. Method: Retrospective medical records of hospitalized patients from 01/2010 to 12/2012 for fever and presence of malaria parasites in peripheral blood smear. Results: During the study period had 285 qualified patients. Pt was 177/285 (62.1 percent), P.v was 661285 (23.2 percent), mixed infection was 42/285 (14.7 percent)). Among 285 patients, 249 (87.4 percent) had thrombocytopenia, in which P.f was 154/177 (87 percent), P.v was 56/66 (84.85 percent), the mixed was 39/42 (92.86 percent), thrombocytopenia ratio between group difference was not significant (p = 0.46). Mean platelet count of sample pretreatment is 88.90x1rf/l, in which Pf is 89.19x10, Pv is 104.79x1rf/l, the mixed is 62.71x10l, differences between groups were significant (p0.001). The frequency of thrombocytopenia in severe malaria (97.4 percent) vs. uncomplicated malaria (83.6 percent) with p
