
Osteoporosis is related to many factors such as menopausal status, exercise habits, eating... The study was conducted on 324 elderly people in the city of Can Tho in 2011 with objective: determine some factors related to osteoporosis in the elderly. Design was cross-sectional descriptive study. Results showed that elderly women exercising 150min/week were 57.05 percent of osteoporosis more than others 1.81 times, elderly women non-drinking milk every day were 55.81 percent of osteoporosis more than others 1.81 times; diet elderly women was 55 percent of osteoporosis more than non-dieters 1.73 times; the rates of osteoporosis in the elderly who drank daily coffee were 55.38 percent and more than others 1.89 times. There were not association between osteoporosis and menopausal status in women, drinking habits, smoking in men, height, weight and body mass index.
