Hepatitis C is very dangerous because clinical symtom is equivocal but outcome is severe. Identification HCV genotype is very important for therapeutic method. HCV species is classified into 6 genotypes (1-6) with several subtypes, isotypes within each genotype. The authors used specific primer to identify HCV genotype in 25 patient group who has positive HCV RNA is chosen from 100 HCV infectious patients in Viet-Tiep Hospital. There are 22 HCV genotype 1 (among them have 13 cases infect not only type 1 but also type 6), 2 genotype 2 and only one genotype 6. Like this, the authors finding that all patients researched only have HCV genotype 1,2,6, and HCV genotype 1 is majority, this is suitable with other researches about HCV genotype in South East Asia and in Vietnam.
