Công nghiệp chăm sóc sức khỏe (CSSK) là một trong những ngành công nghiệp, ngành dịch vụ lớn, phát triển nhanh. Bài viết nêu các đặc điểm và các bộ phận cấu thành của ngành CSSK; chỉ ra vai trò của người thầy thuốc, nhà sản xuất, người bệnh, cơ quan bảo hiểm, bệnh viện và nhà nước đối với ngành này. Tác giả cũng cảnh báo về sự lạm dụng trong việc khám chữa bệnh, sử dụng thuốc men, nêu một số kinh nghiệm phát triển hoạt động CSSK của Hoa Kỳ, Thái Lan, Singapore, đồng thời đặt vấn đề phát triển ngành công nghiệp CSSK của Việt Nam.
Healthcare is one of the large and fast-growing service industries. The article indicates the characteristics and components of the healthcare industry, showing the role of physicians, manufacturers, patients, insurance agencies, hospitals, and the government over this industry. The author also warned of the abuse of health care, drug and referred to some pieces of the health-care development experience in the United States, Thailand, and Singapore and mentioned the development of the health care industry of Viet Nam as well.
