Objectives: To describe the clinical characteristics and some factors related the mortality of pediatric multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Method: A cross-sectional study, 133 patients admitted to PICU, the National Hospital of Pediatrics from November 2010 to June 2011. Diagnosis of MODS based on the definitions of the International pediatric sepsis consensus conference 2005. Results: The incidence of MODS was 22.4 percent; 70 percent with MODS were less than 1 year old. 83.4 percent with MODS associated with sepsis. The mortality rate of MODS was 70 percent. Mortality prognosis factors were: number of organs dysfunction, age 12 month, PRISM score or = 20, presence of sepsis, history medical disease, the first day of multiple organ dysfunction,. Conclusion: The rate and the mortality of MODS were very high in the ICU. There were some factors related with high mortality.
