Aims: Investigating pattern, antibiotic resistance and outcome of Aci.baumanii infection in burn intensive acre unit, National Institute of Burns. Methods: A prospective study was conducted at Burn Intensive Care Unit, National Institute of Burns in a period from 8/2006 to 8/2010. Swap burn wound, sputum cultures were taken. Blood culture was made as indication of clinical severe sepsis. Antibiogram for bacteria was done for each positive culture with available antibiotics. Results: Aci. baumanii was isolated from 80 samples accounting for 16.84 percent. Multiple antibiotic resistance was significant even with new introduced antibiotic generations, especially in case of species combination with P. aeruginosa. Aci. baumanii predominantly isolated from second week postburn with high mortality rate (75 percent) among patients with positive blood cultures. Conclusion: Aci.baumanii infection accounting for 16.84 percent among severe burn patients with hight rate of multiple antibiotic resistance especially when combinating with P. aeruginosa in the same sample. Aci. baumanii was late isolated postburn with mortality rate of 75 percent.
