
Objective: evaluation of characteristics clinicals and paraclinicals of anemia in chronic renal failure patients with CAPD. Patients and Methods: A cross-sectional analysis in 45 chronic renal failure patients with peritoneal dialysis, are before the treatment with ESAs and other agents to treat anemia in CKD, at Hue Central Hospital from 4/2011 to 5/2012. Results: The prevalence of anemia: 100 percent. Clinical symptoms of anemia: pale mucous eyes, vertigo, dizziness, headache, dry nails, reduced exercise capacity. Mild anemia: 71.1 percent; medium anemia: 24.5 percent and severe anemia: 4.4 percent. The level of anemia correlated with the degree of renal failure. The average concentration ofblood hemoglobin 9.60 + or - 1.71 g/dl. Type of anemia: normochromic, normal erythrocytes size = 57.8 percent; hypochromic, normal erythrocytes size = 26.7 percent; hypochromic, small erythrocytes = 13.3 percent; normochromic, big erythrocytes = 2.2 percent. Iron deficiency rate = 22.2 percent. Conclusions: The mild anemia is mostly in end-stage chronic kidney disease patients with peritoneal dialysis and they should be treated.
