Nghiên cứu tình hình sử dụng thuốc hợp lý hen phế quản cấp ở bệnh nhi điều trị nội trú tại Bệnh viện Sản - Nhi Cà Mau năm 2022-2023

Asthma is a global health burden. In order to effectively treat asthma, control symptoms, and reduce hospitalization rates in children, the appropriate selection of medications is an important concern in the current context, including the specific case of the Ca Mau obstetrics and pediatrics Hospital. Objective: To determine the rate of appropriate medication use in the treatment of acute asthma in pediatric inpatients at Ca Mau Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in 2022-2023. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study analyzed 181 medical records (J45) to evaluate the appropriateness of medication use based on drug selection, dosage, and duration (evaluating pediatric medical records from July 2022 to March 2023). Results: The male pediatric patients accounted for a higher proportion (59.7%) than females (40.3%). 59.7% of pediatric patients had a history of allergic asthma. Methylprednisolone and prednisolone were frequently prescribed at inappropriate doses (34.5% and 22.8% respectively), similarly, inappropriate duration of medication use accounted for 21.5% and 16.4%. The rate of appropriate corticosteroid use was 75.5%, and bronchodilators were used appropriately in 88.9% of cases. The use of medication for treating asthma at the hospital does not fully comply with standard treatment guidelines.
