
The cross-sectional descriptive study aims to evaluate the knowledge and practice of doctors and service providers on management of obstetric complications at the provincial and district hospitals and commune health centers in the 14 project provinces (in the Northern Mountainous and Central Highlands). The study results show that: 1) The rate of doctors at the provincial level practicing on correct management of obstetric complications was rather high in many contents with the mean knowledge score attaining 65-81 points; 2) The corresponding rate of doctors at the district level was average with the mean knowledge score 46-68 points; 3) The corresponding rate of service providers at the commune level was still limited with the mean knowledge score 31-48 points; 4) A not small rate of doctors at the district level and most of service providers at the commune level always chose the solution of referral for the given cases of obstetric complications. This shows correctly the current condition and capacity of district hospitals and commune health centers in Vietnam.
