Abstract

Background: The quality of medical staff training, espcially the general practitioners training is currently an important issue which always get attention of many experts in education in Vietnam. This study aimed to describe the current status of knowledge ability, attitude, ability of general practitioners and identify training needs based GP capacity at Hanoi Medical University. Methods: cross-sectional descriptive study, a questionnaire is available directly at the legal issues Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Subjects in the study included 4 main groups: The student is attending GP was graduated in 2009-2010 in Ha Noi Medical University, the lectures, Doctors have long experience in the care sector related to recruitment general practitioner. Factor analysis is used to reorder the initial criteria into 9 groups necessary capacity. The Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare differences between groups. Results: The proportion of subjects in the study group are: Student y6 - 73.13 percent (196 people); polyclinic doctor has graduated in 2009-2010 - 13:06 percent (35 people); Trainers - 4.85 percent (13 people); Doctors have long experience - 8.96 percent (24 people). All subjects agreed that the capacity factor was in line with current demand and need more training (high rates agreed from 68.28 percent to 85.45 percent). The difference in the level of consent issues in accordance with practical needs and need further training among groups is statistically significant. Conclusion: The current capacity factor of general practitioners were somewhat consistent with the needs of society. At the same time the capacity it needs to be more training particular skills in clinical practice. Recommendation: Should determine the needs, skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for a GP to guide, develop a curriculum based on the effective capacity.
