Objectives: To study the current status of human resources, the use, the factors influencing the use of human resources in traditional medicine in the commune and district levels of Vinh Phuc province. Methods: Epidemiological study of descriptive crosssectional design combining qualitative with quantitative approaches. Results: Human resources for traditional medicine in commune and district levels accounted 12.5 percent oftotallocal manpower in health care sector. Of total health care workers, doctors (physician), physician assistants practising traditional medicine, physician assistants oriented to traditional medicine represented respectively 5.1, 38.6 and 43.7 percent (the resting 4.3 percent were those of other working positions). The prevalence of diseases in the community was 40.9 percent, the rate of using traditional medicine was 77.1 percent. As treatment methods, simple use of traditional medicine medications, combination of using medications with other methods, and methods without using medication accounted 37.3, 40.7 and 22 percent respectively. Traditional services are paid according to the resolution of Provincial People Council.
