Study done to estimate calcium requirement and recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for calcium in postmenopausal Vietnamese women aged from 55- 65 years, using calcium balance method. Total of 14 postmenopausal women participated in study. Each participant was subjected to a low calcium intake (300 mgl day) for 15 days. After an interval of 2 weeks, an other 15 days period was set with high calcium intake (600 mgl day) for each subject. Calcium content in intake, feace and urine were analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. Calcium balance was calculated at each dose of calcium intake. Calcium requirement was estimated by linear regression between calcium intake and calcium balance. The results showed that daily calcium requirement was 625 mg in studied subjects. Recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for calcium is 750 mg per day in postmenopausal women aged from 55- 65 years in rural area. Further studies should be done to confirm the result and contribute fruitful data to Recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for Vietnamese people.
