Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is often ignored in case the patients have an increasing transaminase associated with seropositive for hepatitis virus. AIR can cause cirrhosis even mortal if it is undiagnosed and untreated. The authors present a case of AIH triggered by hepatitis A virus (HAV). The patient was a 46-year old woman, diagnosed acute hepatitis A 22 months ago. On Oct/2014 the patient was admitted with symptoms of severe hepatitis associated with seropositive for anti HAV- IgG and suspicion tests of AIR. The liver biopsy specimen had characteristics of interface hepatitis, specific of AIH . The clinical course, biochemical tests and histopathology were improved with steroid therapy. Other factors triggered AIH were excluded. Conclusion: The present case was thus considered to represent AIH probable triggered by HAV.
