
Background: Occupational skin disease among health care workers. Objectives:To investigate the prevalence of hand eczema among healthcare workers working in Ho Chi Minh City with questionnaire and clinical examination. Methods:A survey of 478 healthcare workers who are working in hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City was performed with cluster collection. Data were analyzed with logistic regression and survey data analysis, using stata 12. Results:The participation rate was 87 percent (415 of478). The prevalence of hand eczema was 6.51 percent.19.76 percent healthcare workers had hand eczema. Most of them (75.61 percent) sick from a few days to 1 week (duration for hand eczema). 24.39 percent of these people went to see a dermatologist and a most of them (69.51 percent) feel uncomfortable. The most common clinical form of hand eczema is the vesicular (74.07 percent). Surgical doctors had more hand eczema than internal doctors (OR=4.01; p=0.01; KTC95 percent: 1.55 - 10.39). Conclusions: The prevalence of hand eczema among healthcare workersis 6.51 percent. This disease causing discomfort to them. The most common form was vesicular. Surgical doctors had more hand eczema than internal doctors.
