
Background: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of unmet supportive care needs of inpatients with Hematopoietic malignancies. Methods: cross-sectional, self completed survey using convenience sampling, conducted at National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, for a period from March to October 2011. Sample size was 403 inpatients. Results: Patients reported high levels of unmet needs across the needs domains: the health information, provider care and psychological domains showed the greatest levels of need for helf: 97.3 percent, 95 percent and 91.1 percent of participants, respectively, reported some needs in these areas. 84.6 percent and 67.5 percent of participants reported some needs in the physical and interpersonal communication domains, respectively. Result indicated that age, gender, educational level were all significantly associated with various domains of supportive care needs.
