Objective: To assess the effectiveness of thoracodorsal arterial perforator flap (TAPF) in reconstruction of axillary scar burn contracture. Subject and method: From 2009-2014, the authors used TAPF in 32 cases with the age from 5-70, who have retractable scars at the axillary region caused by burn grade III, IV, V, VI. Result: The maximum flap size was 25cm x 15cm. There were 23 flaps with normal skin, 7 flaps with scar and 2 flaps with both normal and scared skin. Post-operative results: Flap survival rate was 93.7 percent, complications rate was 6.3 percent (1 case with the necrosis at the distal of skin flap, 1 case with partial necrosis of the flap). Long term follow up results: good 80 percent, quite good 80 percent, average pre-operative and postoperative ROMs were 51.20 and 159.70, respectively. Conclusion: TAPF for treatment of post-burn axillary scar contractures showed good results.
