Chronic renal failure is a slow and progressive decline of kidney function. The haptoglobulin assay is used to screen for and monitor risk factors in chronic renal disease. To survey haptoglobin serum levels in patients with IV-V stage chronic kidney failure for medical therapy. Cross-sectional description research, enrollment included 49 patients with stage IV-V chronic kidney failure for medical therapy and 32 person in control group without renal failure. Haptoglobin serum levels in patients with IV-V stage chronic kidney failure were significantly different from those in the control group (1.8 + or - 1.16 g/l vs.1.36 + or - 0.64 g/l, respectively, p 0.05). There was positive correlation, moderate between serum concentrations of haptoglobin and CRP serum in chronic renal failure group, no correlation between serum concentrations of haptoglobin and fibrinogen serum in chronic kidneyl failure group and positive correlation between haptoglobin serum concentration serum levels with erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
