Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea among infants and young children under 5 years old. The report indicated that 55-60 percent children in this age group were diarrheaed from rotavirus. Early detection of rotavirus plays an important role in effective treatment besides surveillance of vaccine production. Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Biologicals (POLYVAC) has sucessfully produced rotavirus detection ELISA Kit with high stableness. The threshold optical density between negative and positive case of kit determined by statistic analysis was 0.168. Specificity and sensitivity of kit were 100 percent and 97.62 percent, respectively. Comparison of the kit with ProSpecT kit (England) on 218 fecal samples indicated that two kits were similar (p 0.05).
