Objective: Finding relationship between the concentration of Gal- 3 and some biochemical indicators of heart in patients with heart failure. Method: a cross-sectional descriptive study in 50 normal people and 80 patients with heart failure by Framingham criteria. Plasma Galectin-3 concentration was measured according to the principle of Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA). The concentrations of NT-proBNP, troponin T were measured according to principle of Electro chemiluminescent immunoassay (ECLIA). Result: The concentration of Gal- 3 in heart failure patients was 35.01 +/- 20.61 ng/mL. There is asignificantly correlation between the concentration of Gal-3 and NT-proBNP plasma (r = 0.6; P 0.001). There was not the correlation between plasma Gal-3 level and CK-MB, CK, AST, Troponin T and hs CRP. Conclusion: Gal-3 and NT-proBNP are valuable markers in the diagnosis and prognosis of heart failure.
