Objective: to assess the change of some renal function indexes after kidney stone surgery in patients with renal insufficiency. Patients and method: a prospective cross-sectional sample-oriented study was performed on 62 kidney-stone patients with renal insufficiency, who underwent stone surgery in Department of Urologic Surgery, No.103 Hospital, from October 2001 to May 2013. Results: Mean age 51.93 + or - 9.39, mainly in ages for employment (20 - 60 yo) 79.66 percent. Kidney-stone with renal insufficiency in male was more frequent than in female statistically (p 0.05). After surgery, the plasma concentrations of ure, creatinin decreased (p 0.05), and creatinin clearance increased, also statistically (p 0.05). There were positive correlations between prior to and after surgery of plasma concentrations of ure, creatinin, and creatinin clearance, with coefficient r: 0.656, 0.742 and 0.592, respectively. Conclusion: Renal function of kidney-stone patients with renal insufficiency improved significantly after surgery.
